Display Tube Database

I’m working on creating a database of all of my Nixie, Numitron, and VFD display tubes. Below is the preliminary table and all of the photos can be found here.  Please let me know what you think. Changes? Suggestions? Last updated 04-30-2009 added IV-17, IV-22, photos

eBay: Magic Eye Winker

Magic Eye Winker EAM86 6GX8 via eBay/ $98 / sold by Tortugascuba I found one more magic eye winker in addition to the one yesterday.  This one is a little more expensive but it comes as a complete kit.  I really like this little version.  There are no integrated circuits and it looks well built.  I [...]

eBay: Yilane Systems YS-150-01K

Magic Eye tube demonstration via eBay/ $75 / sold by Vintage Technology Association I just found this great little gadget on eBay.  It is a demonstration kit for magic eye tubes.  At $75, it is a pretty good deal and it is from a reputable seller.  Check out the video after the jump.

Will you be here tomorrow?

Blood?  Check.  Gore?  Check.  Death?  You betcha! This isn’t a low budget horror film.  No, this is a low-budget workplace safety video!  You have to see this one to believe it.  It is something between a 1980′s high school traffic safety video and the final scene in Terminator 2.  Throw in a little bit of [...]

MN LTX-695 – Please don’t pee in our yard

This is called a social media flogging. Is it really that hard to control your bladder?  Is your going problem a growing problem?  How hard is it to walk 2 blocks to the Metrodome?   You couldn’t hold it for the car ride and just had to piss the second you got out?  Seriously, MN LTX-695 [...]

Matrix Cube Alarm Clock

By ThinGeek (OEM Unknown) $35 This is another gimmick clock but it is well executed and it looks nice.  Each HH MM SS display is separated in to its own cube with the controls on the HH.  They are teathered with a small wire and the whole device is powered via a mains transformer. More…

Exposed Flip Clock

ThinkGeek (OEM Unknown) $50 ThinkGeek just recently released a clock that is a little unusual.  Instead of focusing on weird LED displays or retro nixie tubes, they built a clock on a long-dead technology: flip clocks.  I could try and explain them but I think Wikipedia does a better job.  Read the description and see [...]

Numimini – Video Demo

By Jon Ellis / ~$150 via eBay Follow up to Numimini – Preview I just made a quick video demo of the software included bu Jon to program the clock.  Check it out.

Dot-Matrix Desktop Clock

by DealExtreme (OEM Unkonow) $70 USD I will be the first to admit that this clock is ugly.  The only thing that saves this clock is the well executed LED display.  It is unclear between the photos on DealExtreme.com whether this clock is orange or red, but I have seen videos and photos of both.
