Hi. I’m Brian.
I am an associate at the BR Venture fund at Cornell University and I have worked on consulting projects for a large Bay-area growth fund. I am currently a full time MBA student at Cornell studying Venture Capital and Private Equity.
Why Me?
For the last seven years, I have had officer-level operating experience. I have founded several companies (both LLC and C-Corp), raised funds, negotiated term sheets with investors, and found “creative” financing solutions for my companies. I have had P&L obligations in all of my jobs and reported directly to shareholders in nearly every case. Yes, even the unhappy ones.
In other words, I’ve seen a lot. I’ve handled everything from provisional patent filings to UCC filings.
I’ve pitched to nearly every VC on Sand Hill Road and I’ve made my way around Manhattan a few times as well. I am actively involved with the startup community at Cornell and am working to promote entrepreneurship at my school.
My goal: to land a summer internship
I have one more year left and I would like to work for your firm. I am good at digging up research on companies but my real interest is in sourcing new deals. I would love to spend the summer sourcing deals and sitting with you to learn more about how you manage the process and how you evaluate deals.
Why this approach? Why the Facebook ads?
It’s all about marketing. It got you to click, didn’t it? Startups have to be creative with their launch and this is, for lack of a better term, my launch. I have been an entrepreneur for most of my adult life and I am looking to launch my VC career.
You’re still reading?
Great. This is a good sign. I have summaries of most of my companies at the bottom of this page. All but one of the companies are still alive. The remainder are all generating revenue and two of those are entirely profitable. To help you out, here are some other links about me

My past companies:
Rovrr, Inc. (Co-Founder)
Rovrr was formed in late 2007 to build and to market an advertising platform named Stuff I Like. Shortly thereafter, we were named finalists in the first ever Facebook Fund.
We pioneered the concept of tracking influence using explicit user interactions and though implied connections. The result of our research and development was the Rovrr Quotuent – a numeric value, similar to what a Klout score is today, to rank influencers.
For advertisers, Rovrr allowed key influencers to be identified and their dollar value approximated. For users, Stuff I Like provided a tool that enabled users to share products they like with their friends and to build their online identity through products. Rovrr’s technology has been abstracted to enable white label offerings from clients ranging from national sports teams to major retailers.
AOI Marketing (COO)
AOI is a marketing and loyalty company based in Minneapolis, MN with a second office in Washington DC. AOI focuses on niche loyalty programs with its expertise in the hospitality and travel industries. AOI operates loyalty programs for several high profile clients under a white label agreement.
Bitter Girls (Co-Founder)
Bitter Girls is a lifestyle brand for early teenage girls. Bitter Girls offers comics, witty sayings, and products that are targeted at a post-modern society. Bitter Girls is actively working to license it’s consent to major retailers and niche brands. The brand is also the case study for a MacGraw Hill undergraduate level textbook on marketing.
Social Bundle (Co-Founder)
Social Bundle is a wholly-owned division of AOI. I co-founded Social Bundle after realizing the gap in social media offerings for small businesses. SB provides restaurant owners, single store owners, and similar sized businesses with a simple bundle of social media offerings to build their online presence and, ultimately, sales. SB is unique in that all content is generated by experienced professionals in the Twin Cities to ensure that all customer communications are authentic and natural.
ineedcaffeine llc (Founder)
ineedcaffeine llc is a personal corporation formed to provide a level of liability protection between my online properties and myself. The largest property is TubeClockDB.com – a niche website devoted to vacuum technology and horology. I also do small consulting projects through ineedcaffeine llc.
