For thanksgiving, I needed to get out of Ithaca for a bit so we decided to make the 6 hours drive south to Washington DC for the weekend. This wasn’t explicitly a photo-shooting trip but I wanted to post a few of the images that I thought turned out okay. I just finished sorting though 600 images [...]
I take a lot of product photos for my work on TubeClockDB.com. Every product Ir review gets a full set of photos before I even begin to produce the video review. These are some of my favorite images.
A few days ago a purchased a bismuth crystal off of eBay for pretty cheap. Bismuth is a grey metal with a few interesting properties. In addition to being the active ingredient in Pepto Bismol, when it is cooled slowly, it forms square spirals in a stair-stepped shape. During this process, it forms an oxide layer that causes interference with reflected light [...]
Here is a gallery of macro photography that I’ve been working on. I don’t use a proper macro lens. Instead, I use a macro adaptor as well as a cheap metal ring that allows me to mount my lenses on backwards. (I know it sounds odd, but search Amazon.com for “reverse lens mount” and you’ll [...]
Photos from my trip to Watkins Glen State Park just south of late Seneca. From Wikipedia:”Watkins Glen State Park is in a 400-foot-deep (120 m) narrow gorge cut through rock by a stream that was left hanging when glaciers of the Ice age deepened the Seneca valley, increasing the tributary stream gradient to create rapids [...]
While exploring campus last night, I found that Sage Chapel was still open, even though it was somewhere between 9:00 and 9:30 PM. I walked inside and after letting my eyes adjust to nearly compete darkness, I realized that no one else was around. So, I did the logical thing and grabbed my camera, tripod, [...]
This evening I spent some time walking around campus and taking photos of the University at night. I used my Canon 5D Mark II with either my 50 f/1.4 Sigma lens or my 24-105 f/3 L Canon for the job. In both cases, I had to use a tripod and a remote trigger to get [...]
I just got back from finding a place to live in Ithaca, NY. Apparently it was Ithaca Fest 2011. A brief description of the city from Wikipedia: The city of Ithaca, named for the Greek island of Ithaca, is a city in upstate New York and the county seat of Tompkins County, as well as [...]
I went back to Ithaca, NY a few days ago and took a few photos worth sharing of Cornell University
Here is a series of photographs that I took of Seattle, WA at night in late January 2011. Most of the photos were taken at using a Sigma 50MM 1.4 lens on my Canon 5D Mark II. The aerial photos were taken from the top floors of the Columbia Center.
