Well, the version of for the iPhone came out a few days ago and the Wii version comes out tomorrow, 10/11/10 and will cost 1500 points or $15 USD w/o tax. The initial reviews so far indicate that it is essentially a remake of the original versions of the game with newer graphics and sound. The Wii version is limited to standard definition while PS3 and XBox users will get the full HD versions. Unfortunately, it sound like it it little more than a remake but at $15, you can’t really go wrong. Hopefully SEGA takes the hint and makes future episodes a little more evolutionary.

Swift stated that future Portal developments will depend on the community’s reactions, saying, “We’re still playing it by ear at this point, figuring out if we want to do multiplayer next, or Portal 2, or release map packs.” While some rumors regarding a sequel arose due to casting calls for voice actors, no confirmed sequel was announced prior to 2010. Portal 2 was officially announced on March 10, 2010, for a release late in that year; the announcement was preceded by an alternate reality game based on unexpected patches made to Portal that contained cryptic messages in relation to Portal 2′s announcement. Portal 2′s release date has been pushed back from the during Q4 2010, but has now been given a release date of February 9, 2011.

I have a collection of about 50 Google Wave domain names that I am considering selling; preferably as a package. They all center around the concept of a wavelet and have a strong marketing focus. These would be perfect a premium application store, service or other Google Wave – centered site. As Wave grows, Google will enable to setup private installations of Wave as well as add premium features. This is where the big commercial opportunity is. Imagine a store that featured premium Wave applications, a service that enabled deep content integration, or even an affiliate program within the context of Wave. All are possible.

iPhone App store – done

Android App store – done

Google Wave App store – not yet!

From Google:

A wavelet is a threaded conversation that is spawned from a wave (including the initial conversation). Wavelets serve as the container for one or more documents (of which the basic conversational document is known as a blip). The wavelet is the basic unit of access control for data in the wave. All participants on a wavelet have full read/write access to all of the content within the wavelet. As well, all events that occur within the Google Wave APIs operate on wavelet level or lower. When you spawn a wavelet from within a wave, you do not inherit any access permissions from the parent wavelet. During the lifetime of a wave, you may spawn private conversations, which become separate wavelets, but are bundled together within the same “wave.”

It’s six feed of Bubble Tape.

If you grew up in the late 80′s or early 90′s, you will undoubtedly remember this classic campaign that rain continuously on Nickeloden and Nick at Night / Snick. So long as you weren’t one of them – this was for you. Gym teachers, lunch ladies, and school officials need not apply. They would probably be slimed later on You Can’t Say That on Television. Honestly, I don’t remember the gum being that good. It lost its flavor quickly and the chewy elasticity quickly died. A single container hardly lasted more than a day – which probably made the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company very happy.

The container itself was cool – it had a snapping lip at the dispenser end that almost managed to cut the gum cleanly off. A little metal would have actually made it work but some Pepsi generation little kid hyped up on sugar would probably find some creative way to cut off a finger with it.

As an aside, the tobacco like container that housed Bubble Tape provided endless outs for my alcoholic loser gym teacher when the outline of Skoal was seen imprinting in his back pocket. ”No no, that’s just Bubble Tape.” Now, Don could say it was something other than a hockey puck. Of course, he was one of “them.” I wonder how his throat is doing….

Anyways – enjoy the show!

I love J&R Electronics. Right now, they have a campaign on Twitter to come up with safe-for-work slogans that end in “Since 1971.” The take the featured slogans and rotate them randomly throughout the site. Overall, it is a fun way to engage the audience.

Independently, I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to buy a Canon 5D Mark II kit from several retailers. While I was searching for a retailer in stock, I found an interesting collision between their slogan campaign and their inventory situation:

J&R Photo caption fail

Now, in J&R’s defense – no one has the 5D II kit in stock. This is just a funny artifact

Background info from Gothamist

http://gothamist.com/2007/10/04/video_of_the_da_118.php

Those geniuses at Fallon London are at it again for Sony BRAVIA. First they had the bouncing balls in San Francisco, then the tower of paint in Glasgow, and now bunnies on the streets of Manhattan. Fair warning – if for some reason you’re scared of bunnies, don’t watch this video. The advertisement, titled “Play-doh” features 200 plasticine bunnies hopping around and a large 30 foot bunny in Thomas Paine Park in Lower Manhattan.

The ad’s director said it was technically the most difficult thing he’s done, “It is an incredibly difficult situation to control. You have New Yorkers wandering through frames and you have no say over it because we’re doing it for real.” It took 2.5 tons of plasticine, 40 animators three weeks to choreograph the bunnies, and 100,000 images for the 60-second spot. The ad, which was filmed over three weeks this summer, also features a crashing wave, a whale, and lots of New Yorkers.

Dear Kindle Owner,
We are excited to introduce Kindle 2—the next generation of our wireless reading device.

As a current Kindle owner, we’d like to offer you a special opportunity to be among the first to experience Kindle 2. Even though we’ve increased our manufacturing capacity, we want to be sure our original Kindle owners are first in line. Order Kindle 2 by midnight PST on February 10th and you will be given priority.

We kept everything you love about your Kindle—the convenience of reading what you want, when you want it, the immediacy of getting a book wirelessly delivered in less than 60 seconds, and Kindle’s ability to “disappear” in your hands so you get lost in the author’s words. And we added some features we think you’ll really like.

Sleek and slim, the new Kindle has seven times more storage and holds over 1,500 titles. An improved display provides even crisper images and text for an enhanced reading experience. Page turning is faster, the battery life is even longer, and our new “Text-to-Speech“ features means Kindle can even read to you.

Learn more about Kindle 2 and reserve your place in line today.

The Amazon Kindle Team

Sleek & Slim: 10.2 ounces and just over 1/3 inch
Improved Display: Screen now boasts 16 shades of gray for crisper images and text
Longer Battery Life: 25% longer battery life; read for days without recharging
More Storage: Holds over 1,500 books
Faster Page Turns: 20% faster page turns
Selection: The biggest eBook library on earth with over 230,000 titles

Dear Google Earth Plus Customer,

As a valued Google Earth customer, we want you to be the first to know that Google will no longer offer Google Earth Plus. With new enhancements to Google Earth released this week, we believe
the needs of many Google Earth Plus customers will be met with Google Earth 5.0, which is freely available to all our customers. For those customers who require additional capabilities and faster speeds, we have a special offer to try
href=”http://earth.google.com/enterprise/earth_pro.html”>Google Earth Pro free of charge for two months. If you like it, you can buy it with a limited-time discount only available to our Google Earth Plus customers.

The latest version of Google Earth lets customers import and track global positioning system (GPS) data. Our Google Earth Plus customers told us GPS tracking is one of the main reasons they choose
Google Earth Plus. Now, since you can use this feature for free in Google Earth 5.0, there’s little separation between Plus and the free product. In order to simplify the decision of which version of Google Earth best meets our customers’ needs, we decided it no longer made sense to continue
Google Earth Plus.

As a current user of Google Earth Plus, you have several options:

Stay with Google Earth Plus. You can continue using Google Earth Plus for the time being, until either your license expires or until we come out with a new version of Google Earth.
href=”http://earth.google.com/enterprise/earth_plus_details.html#earthplus”>Learn more

Use the standard version of Google Earth. You can now import and track GPS data in Google Earth 5.0 without having to pay an annual fee. Learn more

Try Google Earth Pro. Google Earth Pro includes additional features to let you to do even more with Google Earth. For example, print and save images with 3x higher resolution for your documents
and presentations, import GIS data, and import up to 2,500 rows of spreadsheet data. As a loyal Google Earth customer, we are offering you a two-month free trial of Google Earth Pro and the opportunity to purchase a one-year subscription for $99 (regular price of $400). Enter this promo code

We believe that Google Earth or Google Earth Pro will continue to meet your needs for exploring rich geographical content with the same easy-to-use features that you’ve come to love about Google Earth Plus. Please note that the imagery in both Google Earth and Google Earth Pro

Notes:
In the 1952 movie Singin’ in the Rain, Gene Kelly does his famous dance routine along the street and by a lamp-post. For this commercial a replica of the Singin’ set was built, and three different dancers were filmed doing some modernized Gene Kelly moves. Then Kelly’s face was superimposed onto the new footage.

One of the modern dancers is David “Elsewhere” Bernal, notable for his pop-lock/liquiding style. (Pretty much everything in this ad where it looks like his body is made of rubber)
